Richard Ngatia has vowed to use his expertise and connections in the business world to create job opportunities for thousands of graduates should he be elected the next Nairobi governor.

He made the promise during a meeting with the representatives of all Universities, colleges and TVTs in Nairobi on Thursday.

“Nairobi is one of the most advanced cities in Africa and we will strive to make it better,” he said, amid cheers from the students.

“We are ready to support business people and especially those graduating from universities. We have put up a plan on how to do that and will share it very soon. You are at the most productive stage of your life and we will ensure you have something to do.”

Ngatia also said he will ensure Nairobi rakes in income from export produce.

“We have millions of residents in Nairobi and so there is ready market for the goods we produce. But then, we can export goods to other counties and neighbouring counties. Market for goods should never be a problem. And for you to work well, you must be healthy, so I will ensure affordable healthcare.”

Ngatia’s gubernatorial bid received a boost earlier in the week when Abagusii leaders in Nairobi vowed to support him and Beatrice Kwamboka who is gunning for the capital’s Nairobi Women Representative seat.

Ngatia brings vast experience to his gubernatorial bid, having served as Managing Director and CEO of Megascope Healthcare, a major corporate player in the healthcare industry in Kenya and across the entire continent.

He’s also the immediate Chairman of Nairobi County Chamber where he led that chamber very successfully before he decided to vie for the Presidency of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI).
